These Insane House Listings Prove That You Can Never Tell What Goes On Behind Closed Doors
If you're someone who likes browsing for mansions you will likely never be able to afford, and you're down to see some wild and wacky styles, then this list is for you. An Instagram account called Zwillow Gone Wild compiles all of the craziest house listings on the internet and then presents them to you for your viewing pleasure.
All of these houses have really surprising things inside, from carrot sculptures to zoo rooms to toilets in the kitchen. These houses look normal on the outside, but when you use the arrows on the sides of the images to scroll through pictures of their interiors, we're betting you'll be surprised.
Wait Until You See The Kitchen
If you click the arrow on the right side of this photo and start looking through the images, at first everything looks normal. And then you get to the kitchen.
We just have one question: why, though?
So Many Colors
Whoever designed this house clearly has a thing for color (and for Ruth Bader Ginsburg).
Do you think this person went to Harvard? They do have their Harvard degree pasted all over their wall.
Holy Red Floors
This house wouldn't have made it onto this list if it wasn't for that awful red carpeting.
Who decided that red carpet was a good idea? Also, that pool slide looks awfully dangerous.
Nothing Subtle About It
If I had to use one word to describe this house, it would be "opulent." Do these people think that they're living in Versailles?
I've never seen so much satin in one place.
Bring On The Light Show
At first glance, this seems like a normal California beach house. It has a nice open concept main floor with big windows...
Then you flip to the next picture and there's a whole intergalactic light show.
A House On A Hill
From the outside, this house looks pretty unassuming. Then you start clicking through the photos and it looks pretty cool inside. And then things start to get wild.
That banister is kind of amazing.
When You See It...
Scroll through this house and tell me when you see it. I'll wait...
Yeah, there is a toilet in the kitchen. Or maybe there's a stove and dishwasher in the bathroom.
Someone decided that it would be a good idea to paint white stripes on these green walls all throughout the house. Why would anybody do this?
This is too stripy for my liking.
A Barbie Kitchen
This house starts off looking pretty normal. It has nice hardwood floors and crown molding.
Then you get to the kitchen and it looks like a Barbie Dreamhouse. The bathroom is just as pink.
Too Much Taxidermy
I'm sorry, but how many deer heads does one household need?
What's also concerning is that there are baby toys in this house as well. So kids and dead deer live in this house.
What A Bed
This house is absolutely stunning. I mean, until you get to the bedroom.
Floor to ceiling curtains all along the walls and a bed skirt that absolutely can't be ignored.
Living In A Castle
If you have 5.5 million dollars and you live in Michigan, maybe this 9-bedroom, 14-bathroom mansion is for you.
This doesn't even look like a house. It looks like the White House.
It's clear that whoever lives in this $20 million New York home really likes loud patterns.
It's almost like there isn't a square inch of this place that isn't covered in a pattern of some kind.
A Dated Bungalo
This is what the dark side of midcentury modern looks like.
Sure, some people in the '70s had really chic furniture, but other people had wallpaper and carpet and all the wrong kinds of tile.
Just Put Tile Everywhere, Why Don't You?
Someone decided that it would be a good idea to put horizontal tiles halfway up the walls of this house.
Not just some of the walls. Every wall. This is a disaster.
Shield Your Eyes
As you first start clicking through this $120k house in Pennsylvania, it seems like a normal, outdated, slightly run-down abode.
Then you get to the dolls. My eyes will never be the same.
So Many Sculptures
Well, you can't say that this person's style isn't unique.
The house looks relatively normal except for the random giant sculptures that seem to keep getting weirder and weirder.
Live In A Rainforest
Is this house a little unorthodox in its design? Absolutely. Does that mean that I wouldn't pay $1.8 million dollars to live here? Not necessarily.
All of those plants are so inviting.
The Best Kind Of Mosaic
There is some interesting tile work all throughout this house. If you're really into mosaics, this could be the house for you.
Or, you know, if you're really into penguins.
So Many Shoes
The person who lives in this house must be a shoe collector. Either that, or they're selling shoes on the black market.
It's like they have a whole shoe store in their home.
The Jungle Room
This house is so crazy, I don't even know where to start. It's a relatively small place. It only has one bedroom and one bathroom.
It has a lot of giraffes, though.
This person seems to take patriotism to another level, especially when it comes to their love for their home state.
This whole house is basically a giant Texas flag. Whoever buys this house is going to have some serious repainting to do.
A House Fit For A King
If you live in Pennsylvania and you have close to 9 million dollars to spare, this might just be the house for you.
It has everything, including an indoor hot tub with a view of the heavens.
Someone Loves Pugs
This house looks pretty normal until you see the bedroom. There are pugs everywhere. I wonder how many pugs actually live in this house.
I can only imagine that it smells a lot like dog.
If You Like To Play Ball
If you love basketball and you have high ceilings, why not put a basketball net in your main foyer?
I mean, besides the fact that it's a recipe for broken windows and broken furniture.
So Many Colors
If I had to describe this place in one word, it would be "eclectic."
Yeah, there's a lot going on in here, but strangely, I think it all works together.
Wait Until You See The Shower
I'm sorry, but what kind of contraption is this? Where did this person get a futuristic shower pod with a screen in it?
You're telling me that the shower comes with the house?
A Gym On Mount Olympus
If you have always wanted a gym that looks like it could have come straight from Mount Olympus, then this might be the house for you.
Strangely, it's only $625k.
A Log Cabin
Okay, this is my dream home. Take all of my money. I just want to live in this log cabin forever.
This whole house screams escapism. And it isn't even that expensive (compared to the other homes on this list).
A Tile Palace
This house has tiles everywhere. There are tiles on the ceilings, tiles on the floor, tiles on the walls, tiles in every room.
I definitely wouldn't call this a "soft" house.
